About Legacies of War
|
Laos is the most heavily bombed country per capita in history. As a result of U.S. bombings during the Vietnam War from 1964-1973, approximately one third of Laos remains contaminated with about 80 million unexploded bombs that litter villages, school grounds, rice fields, roads, and other populated areas.
Since Legacies of War’s founding in 2004 and as a result of our advocacy, U.S. funding to clear these bombs from Laos and help survivors has increased 20 fold - from $1.3 million in 2004 to $30 million in 2018, saving lives and creating hope for the future. But our work is far from finished. Less than 1% of the bombs have been cleared and at least 12,000 victims and their families still need help. With your support, we can achieve a bold goal - zero deaths and injuries for ten years. |
GET INVOLVED
There are lots of ways to contribute. We know our organization has not only had tremendous impact in Laos, but within the Laotian American diaspora as well. We know from experience that meaningful partnerships make all the difference.
